MPHMUN is proud to announce that our charity for the upcoming 2023 conference will be InterFaith Works of Central New York. InterFaith Works is a local charity that supports refugees as they adjust to their new lives. As such, they embody MPHMUN’s 2023 theme of promoting "peace, justice, and strong institutions." InterFaith Works is based on the Northside of Syracuse, centered in the heart of the refugee community. As stated on their website, "InterFaith Works affirms the dignity of each person and every faith tradition, builds racial and religious equity, and creates bridges of understanding among us." Their programs empower youth to support and influence their community and develop leadership in themselves and others.
We are supporting Interfaith works by collecting new and lightly used winter gear for refugee families. Interfaith Works works with refugee families from around the world to settle them in Syracuse. They supply these families with what they need to start their new lives in America. Because of the climate in Syracuse, one of their most dire needs is winter gear. We will be collecting this throughout the conference day, so if you have extra winter gear, please consider donating to help our cause!
