In-Committee Awards

Casey Beach Advocacy Award

Best New Delegate (Not offered in Advanced Commitees)

This award is granted to the 1st-year delegate in the committee who displays rigor, talent, and passion for Model UN.

Delegation Awards

Distinguished Delegation Award

This award will go to the delegation with the second-highest overall score.

Outstanding Delegation Award

This award will go to the delegation with the highest overall score.

The scores for the delegation awards will be determined as follows:

Each committee chair will give EVERY delegate a score of 1, 2, or 3.

  • 3: The delegate participated fully and was a leader in the committee
  • 2: The delegate made an effort to speak, but was not a leader in the committee
  • 1: The delegate had limited/no participation

Awarded delegates will receive bonus points for their delegation.

  • 3: Closing ceremony awards
  • 2: In-committee awards

The scores from each delegation, including the bonus points from awards, will be added together and divided by the number of delegates attending the conference from that delegation.

Award Eligibility

Beginner Committees

To be eligible for an award, delegates in beginner committees must submit a position paper and resolution on the topic. To find details on how to write these, check out our resources.

Intermediate Committees

We heavily recommend that delegates in intermediate committees submit a position paper and resolution for both topics. Delegates are eligible for an award if they submit a position paper and resolution for the same topic ONLY IF that one topic is chosen to be set as base. Otherwise, they will not be eligible. Therefore, we recommend that delegates research and write about both topics so they are better prepared and guaranteed to be eligible.

Advanced Committees

Delegates must submit a position paper for all topics to be eligible. No resolutions are needed as advanced committees are Harvard-style.
